Feels sooooooo good to write that! The challenge of going to 30 yoga classes in 30 days was definitely hard, but it was sooooo worthwhile and an amazing experience. I learned so much, most importantly for women — to fully appreciate my body. Although my body is far from perfect, I have a great deal of appreciation for it now realizing that it is very strong and not only gets me through 90 minute yoga classes, but my everyday life. It’s a blessing to breathe! I see what needs to be improved but instead of beating myself up, I accept myself and will put in the work to make the changes I want to see. Nothing comes without hard work!!!
I’ve learned to calm my mind, not focus on what others are doing and just believe in myself, believing that I can do anything for just a few more seconds. It has been amazing to spend 60-90 minutes each day just inside my own head dealing with my own thoughts, learning to slow down my frenetic brain.
On a physical level, I lost 3 pounds but have really tightened up. My posture has improved, my cardio has improved and overall I feel very strong and like nothing can conquer me. It’s hilarious now – if I ever say, jeez I just don’t have time to go to the gym, now I know I really do. It’s just a matter of will, creative scheduling and not deluding myself into saying “I can’t” but transforming that into the very powerful “I will”. With that knowledge and attitude, you can’t lose.
Hot yoga is a great workout for the body and the mind! Thanks to all the teachers at the studio for their support, guidance and care and thanks to everyone who participated in the Hot Yoga Challenge – WE DID IT!
Namaste,
Amber
