Aug. 30th, 2011 — Halifax, NS – This Wednesday through Sunday, Halifax will host some of the world’s best in beach volleyball. The Salter Street block on the Halifax Waterfront has been transformed into a regulation six-court international playing field for the 2011 FIVB Swatch Junior World Championships. The games open Wednesday, Aug. 31 with a free Community Day. Derek Martin Event Chair, extended an invitation to the public to come see the site. “It is because of the community and corporate support that we have received that we are able to open the event to the public and we invite everyone to help welcome the world to Halifax.”
Single day tickets for Thursday through championship Sunday are now on sale at www.sandjamhalifax.ca, and start at $10. Following the tournament, all game sand will be donated to a nearby permanent facility to help facilitate continued development of the sport in the region.
