Robber Returned to Bank For Cab Fare

A would-be bank robber was arrested in the US – after returning to the scene of his crime to withdraw cash for taxi fare. The 39-year-old man had tried to rob a Wells Fargo bank in Chamblee, Georgia, at gunpoint.
He handed the cashier a note saying: “Give me the money or we start shooting”, reports Newser.

“Obviously, feeling safe behind the bulletproof glass, the teller just stepped back and the individual left without any money,” said Chamblee Police Chief Marc Johnson.
The man jumped into a taxi to make his getaway back to his car parked nearby where he realised he didn’t have any money for the fare.
Fearing he intended driving off without paying, the female taxi driver blocked in his car and got the attention of a police officer.
“The officer just convinced the guy that you need to get some money and pay your bill or else you’ll end up in trouble,” Police Chief Johnson added.
The policeman escorted him back to the same bank to withdraw cash legally where bank employees recognised him. The man was arrested and charged with attempted armed robbery.

WTF NEWS: Mom Assaults Man Trying To Supply Son With Drugs

A Jefferson County mother is facing assault charges in a case where she allegedly struck a man she says was supplying her son with heroin.  Sherrie Gavan says she felt threatened during a conversation with the man.
Sherrie Gavan claims the man aided Clayton in relapsing several times.  She finally says she had enough in December and went to try and talk to him.
“I just wanted him to leave my son alone, and stay away from where I work and stay away from where we live,” she said.
In her statement to police she says during the conversation the man reached for something in his car.
“I felt extremely threatened,” the four foot eleven Gavan told us. “As you can tell I’m not a young person and I’m not a tall person so I’m not a strong person. “
In the statement she says she hit the man with a baseball bat, telling him to get away.  When he approached her again, she says she hit him a second time.
About a month later, prosecutors filed a bill of information, charging Gavan with third degree assault for striking the alleged drug dealer.  She says she nearly laughed at first, then realized how serious this is.
“It is the state prosecuting me for trying to protect my son.  And I’m just at this point I don’t know what to do.  I could lose my job.  I could lose everything I own because I was trying to protect my son.”
Asked if she has any regrets, she said through tears, “No. No.  My children are my life, and they’re wanting to take his life away and I can’t let that happen.  And other kids’ lives.  I’ve watched kids that I work with. I see kids that he knows, and it’s killing them.  And nothing is being done.”
Asked why they chose to file charges, Jefferson Count y Prosecutor’s spokesman Mike Ravetta offered little detail.
“Our reasons for charging a case are not public information,” he said by phone.
He went on to say the circumstances surrounding Gavan’s case may be part of a defense, but he wouldn’t comment on that.  In the end, he said, someone saw enough evidence to file charges and that’s what they did.
Gavan is due in court on March 12.

On This Day In History!!

Your daily horoscope

IF TODAY IS YOUR BIRTHDAY:

You don’t have to feel guilty about anything you have done. We all make mistakes and, yes, you’ve made your share over the past 12 months, but each and every one of them was a learning experience. In knowledge terms, you’re super rich.

ARIES (March 21 – April 20):

As mind planet Mercury moves into your sign you must set your sights higher. If what you do does not challenge you in some way then you are not trying hard enough. Aim for the top – it’s where you belong.

TAURUS (April 21 – May 21):

You need to branch out on your own and do things that benefit you, not other people. That might sound a bit selfish but it’s okay – and it makes up for the many times you have been too nice for your own good.

GEMINI (May 22 – June 21):

You may be a bit quiet today as you think back on all the things you’ve done since the start of the year. But with Mercury moving into the friendship area of your chart you won’t be withdrawn for long.

CANCER (June 22 – July 23):

Some of the comments that come your way today will be rather unflattering but there is no point reacting to them. They come from people who are jealous of your talent and intelligence. You’re smart, they’re dumb, that’s it.

LEO (July 24 – Aug. 23):

Your life is complicated enough as it is without taking on even more responsibilities. You should be looking for ways to do less, not more. Use your leadership skills to persuade others to do the boring stuff for you.

VIRGO (Aug. 24 – Sept. 23):

Hold out for what you are worth, even if those who control the purse strings warn that you risk ending up with nothing. Maybe you will but principle is more important than profit – and in the long-term will earn you more.

LIBRA (Sept. 24 – Oct. 23):

What looks like a setback early in the day will turn out to be just what you need later in the day, so keep smiling and keep looking for ways to turn events to your advantage. Nothing is ever truly random.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24 – Nov. 22):

You may be able to get through twice as much work as most other people but that does not mean you HAVE to do it all. Some things are important and some things are not. Leave the trivial stuff for trivial people.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 23 – Dec. 21):

Focus on what you enjoy doing today, even if colleagues and loved ones keep telling you it isn’t productive. Maybe they’re right, maybe it isn’t, but why should everything be measured in purely material terms? If it’s fun, it’s good.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22 – Jan. 20):

You may be tempted to take some kind of gamble today, most likely because someone you are close to emotionally expects it of you, but is that such a good idea? If they really cared for you they wouldn’t push it.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 21 – Feb. 19):

Keep things simple over the next 24 hours and ignore the nagging thought you are not using your time and energy as wisely as they could be used. It’s not all about dollars and cents and getting ahead in the world.

PISCES (Feb. 20 – Mar. 20):

There are some truly wonderful opportunities coming your way but you are not the only one who is in the frame to benefit from them, so be alert and be ready to move at a moment’s notice. Luck is what you make of it.
