Next time you have a few beers with your friends, you might want to take a sec to mull over that work problem that’s been tripping you up. According to a new study, beer actually helps you think better. 

In the study, researchers from the University of Illinois in Chicago divided participants into two groups—one group was given two pints of beer each, and the other were completely sober. Each team was then asked to compete in a bar game where they were given three words and asked to come up with a fourth one that fit the pattern. 

The drinkers solved 40 percent more problems correctly and came up with their answers 3.5 seconds faster than their sober counterparts. Sure, beer isn’t always going to make you smarter—scientists discovered that the tipsy people weren’t as great at memory games, but did well at ones that required a little creativity. 

First we found out that drinking a glass or two of red wine a day can help you lose weight, and now this. Who’s ready for happy hour?!

First Lady Michelle Obama has a new pen pal in Beyonce Knowles.

Two days after the singer and new mom, 30, wrote a heartfelt and handwritten thank you letter on her official website, the President’s wife, 48, responded via Twitter Friday. “Thank you for the beautiful letter and for being a role model who kids everywhere can look up to,” Obama told Knowles.

In her letter, Knowles praised Obama for being “the ultimate example of a truly strong African American woman.”

The 16-time Grammy Award winner continued: “No matter the pressure, and the stress of being under the microscope — she’s humble, loving, and sincere. She builds and nurtures her family, while also looking out for so many millions in so many ways.”

“Michelle, thank you so much for every single that you do for us. I am proud of have my daughter [Blue Ivy, 3 months] grow up in a world where she has people like you to look up to.”

Knowles has been a longtime supporter of the Obama family, as she performed Etta James‘ “At Last” during the 2008 inaugural ball. In 2011, she teamed up with the First Lady as part of Obama’s Let’s Move campaign.

IT’S a funny thing to proclaim, but Kim Kardashian has admitted she’s “hairy and Armenian” in order to get out of a lawsuit.

The 31-year-old is being sued by beauty company Radiant, who claim she has falsely endorsed a competitor’s hair removal product.

But the reality star has asked the court to dismiss her from the lawsuit, saying her statement was an honest reflection of her opinion.

According to Radiant, Kim falsely claimed home laser hair-removal TRIA works all over the body and has permanent results.

However, the brand says it does neither and that Kim’s misleading product endorsement has put their hair-remover no!no! at an unfair disadvantage.

Reality star Kim, who’s now dating Kanye West, said she uses the product all over her body and was only being honest.

 

She said: “Being Armenian and hairy, I thought [TRIA] was the perfect product.”

Meanwhile, away from the dramas of fuzz removing, Kim’s been playing pranks on Bruce Jenner.

She was filming her reality show with her stepfather while he took her Ferrari 458 Italia to race.

Kim hid the car from 62-year-old Bruce and made him think her pricey motor had been pinched.

But the joker soon let him in on the wind-up and emerged from the car.

She must think she’s hair-larious.

An Australian X Factor contestant has revealed her battle with cancer.

Pamela Cook, a 30-year-old single mom and teacher who impressed the judges on the reality show with her rendition of ‘Because of You’ last week, said that she was devastated when her long-term partner and father of her son Zion walked out on her on the last day of her chemotherapy treatment.

Cook was 16 weeks pregnant when a lump on her breast was diagnosed as cancer. She refused to terminate her pregnancy, had Zion delivered nine weeks early and underwent treatment.

“There’s no way I could terminate [my baby's] life,” she told New Idea magazine. “I just knew if I prayed hard enough, I’d be okay.”

Cook said of her former fiancé leaving her: “I think he thought he was doing the right thing by waiting until my last day of treatment. When I was diagnosed, the reality hit home and our relationship changed completely from that day.

“He must have made his decision very early on because he kept asking me when was my last day of treatment. I thought he was going to take me out for dinner or that we were going away for the weekend. But he obviously wasn’t planning to take me anywhere.”

Although she said that she doesn’t “feel angry”, Cook admitted : “It’s sad he couldn’t be the man I thought he was. If there was ever a time when I needed someone, it was then. But he had decided he needed to move on. And that’s not the person I want to be with anyway.”

Admitting that “a little bit of [her] had died” after her cancer diagnosis, Cook said: “I tried to stay positive. During my pregnancy, I was constantly in fear of what the chemo was doing to the baby.” She said that she wanted to audition for The X Factor because “it might mean [she] can achieve [her] dream” of being a singer.

Finally, a good look at Angelina Jolie‘s gorgeous engagement ring!

This new exclusive photo – taken when Jolie debuted the ring at a private event at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art last week – shows off the stunning sparkler, which Brad Pitt designed for her in collaboration with jeweler Robert Procop.

“Brad had a specific vision for this ring, which he realized over a yearlong collaboration with Robert,” Procop’s team said in a statement. “He wanted every aspect of it to be perfect.”

Nice work, Mr. Pitt.
